President Arnold Rüütli 1989. aastal istutatud mänd

President Arnold Rüütel külastas Elvat 17. septembril 1988 koos abikaasa Ingrid Rüütliga. Elva linna 50. juubeli tähistamise raames istutati raudteejaama vastas asuvasse parki mänd ning avati juubelikivi. President Rüütel kohtus Elva elanikega, osales ühiselt rongkäigus, kuulas koorimuusikat ja nautis rahvatantsuetendust.

Arnold Rüütel oli Eesti Vabariigi president 8. oktoobrist 2001 kuni 9. oktoobrini 2006.
