Kindral Aleksander Einseln oli väljapaistev Eesti sõjaväelane ja poliitik, endine Ameerika Ühendriikide maaväe kolonel. Ta juhtis Eesti Kaitseväge 4. maist 1993 kuni 4. detsembrini 1995, mängides olulist rolli riigikaitse ülesehitamisel iseseisvuse taastanud Eestis.

Kindral Einseln sündis Eestis, kuid põgenes 1944. aasta septembris Nõukogude okupatsiooni eest koos emaga Saksamaale. 1949. aastal siirdus ta Ameerika Ühendriikidesse, kus omandas USA kodakondsuse ning alustas silmapaistvat karjääri USA relvajõududes.

Mälestuspuu on istutatud Elva raudteejaama parki austusavaldusena kindral Einselnile tema Elva-visiitide auks aastatel 1993–1995.
